Dunbar Street Art Trail is renowned for its interactive art displays allowing visitors to try their hand at a new style of art. From Pavement art and Chalking to Graffiti and painting this is a great family friendly day to immerse yourself in the artistic. All our activities are free (with the opportunity to donate should you wish to help us put on future events) giving you more money in your pocket to shop local and help keep Dunbar one of Scotland’s best and most vibrant town centres.
On 19th August 2017 the town centre came alive with some amazing Dunbar Street Art Trail activities including:
Live music stage from some of the best and brightest around East Lothian positioned on the centre of the high street right outside one of Dunbars best music shops The Dunbar Record Store, listen to some new music while adding to your vinyl collection. Opposite the music we will have one of the festivals most popular attractions the Caricaturist, this year we are delighted to have The Kilted Caricaturist and we can promise you it will be a great momento from your day out to take home with you.
We have a graffiti alley at the beautifully refurbished backlands area courtesy of The Ridge a great local charity that helps people learn new skills and gain useful employment. This area will feature great murals created by some of Scotland’s most talented graffiti artists with an area for you and the kids to enjoy trying your hand at this great artistic skill. Chalking for the little ones and a graffiti wall for the older kids and adults. We will also have a backdrop of some funky music for you to enjoy.
We have two American performers this year who have been working around Scotland and helping DSAT promote our hugely successful European Stone Stacking Championship. Sterling Gregory and Travis Williams are two of the USA’s best land artists creating incredible gravity defying sculptures and stone mosaic murals. This is a great chance to get up close and personal with the best and have a go at balancing yourself. This area will be at the Reid’s Garage site near the abbey church end of the High Street alongside our chalk station to get your chalk for trying your hand at pavement art.
At the newly refurbished St Anne’s church we will have our kids area, with your chance to meet some Owl’s provided by Owl Magic Scotland, check out the new decor inside St Annes with some light displays and interactive moments with Callum Easter and grab a coffee with all proceeds going towards the ongoing costs of St Annes. In the back garden we will have an array of great kids activities including, Glitter tattoos, Face Painting, Balloon Sculptures, Lego graffiti wall and Lego build station, Painting and Bubbles.
If you enjoy a bit of carnival games then the Sea Cadets Hall area is the place to be, with special guests Rolling Haggis bringing both Football Darts and Zorbing, Connor Stewart and his world famous coconut shy and frisbee door, juggling workshop, Rave truck and more.
Our festival day is set in the heart of the town centre and is surrounded by some great shops, cafes and restaurants, with so much choice to suit any budget. Our event is completely free to attend, leaving you money to shop and eat locally. Here are some great moments from last year. You can keep up to date with any new announcements on:
